How much do spas cost?
Spas are not just a luxury for the rich & famous. A basic spa that is well built and reliable can be purchased for as little as $6,000 and if you want the ultimate hydrotherapy and entertainment unit you could pay up to $15,000.

How much do spas cost to run?
It is impossible to give exact figures concerning running costs. The size of your energy bill will be totally dependant on how often you use the spa, the temperature you maintain it at, water capacity, location (indoor or outdoor), number of pumps in use, quality of the cover etc. A typical cost will usually be between $1 and $2 per day. Be wary of retailers claiming unbelievably low running costs!

Do spas need chemicals?
All spas require chemicals to ensure the water is safe and the equipment is not damaged (even if you have an ozone system). There are a range of chemical treatments for you to choose from.

What are the key benefits of a spa?
A spa provides many benefits!

Therapy
:
A spa delivers the right combination of heat and massage that improves circulation, assists in relaxation and promotes well being.

Lifestyle:
A spa provides an entertainment center in your home 24 hours a day. Evidence suggests that people are working longer hours and stress levels are higher than they have ever been. A spa provides a perfect and affordable retreat from the daily stresses that can renew & revive.

Family Fun
:
A spa is fun for all ages. Everyone from children to grandparents can enjoy the experience. It creates the ideal setting to bring the family together for time to relax and enjoy conversation together.
Many families with teenagers are investing in a spa so that their children and friends are at home where they are safe from the modern day "social temptations".

Do spas need servicing?

Like any equipment a spa needs to be cared for. Ensure that your spa retailer provides appropriate training and support documentation so that you are fully aware of what maintenance requirements are involved. This way you will be sure that your spa is in perfect working order.

Are all spas the same?
No - definitely not! Like many industries, some spa manufacturers build to a price so quality of construction and equipment can be inferior. Warranty terms and length is a good way in determining whether a manufacturer stands behind their product.

What is ozone & is it safe?
Ozone is a powerful oxidizer and sanitizer. It is made available for hot tubs and spas through the use of a device called an Ozonator. Ozone is formed when three atoms of oxygen are bound together, instead of the normal two. Mother Nature makes it naturally, if you have ever detected a faint sweet smell in the air after a lightening storm, that was Ozone. Ozone not only destroys micro-organisms, it also breaks down harmful chemicals and causes total dissolved solids to clump together for easier removal by the filter. Ozone also oxidizes combined chlorine and bromine, freeing them to be continuously reused. The result is water that is cleaner, clearer, and smoother feeling to the skin.

Ozone helps prevent the calcium in spa water from chelating, and thus conditions the water. This is good for equipment and more enjoyable to you. For many the water actually feels softer! Ozone has a very short half-life in water (about 15 minutes). You will still need to use a system chemical such as bromine, chlorine as a sanitizer. However, you will find that you will use a lot less chemicals - often 25 to 50% less, and this alone will pay for your new ozonator in time. Plus your spa experience will be heightened by less work, and less harsh chemicals to burn your eyes, nose and skin.
